Our first "off season" meeting! The sun is setting much too early to watch it set but we can still enjoy meeting by the water, so why don't we meet at the Seaport and enjoy the view of the tall ships?
Meetup automatically lists the previous venue as the site of the next meeting, so if any of you were hesitant to go to this meeting rest assured we will be inside for the foreseeable future, warm and well fed.
Come on out and catch up with your sailing buddies and make new ones. As nobody will be taking their boats out any time soon this will be a good chance to start floating (no pun intended) some ideas for events and outings for next season.
Since this won't be a very large meeting we will meet at Pizzeria Uno at the bar, and we'll get a table if enough people show up with their appetites.

It was so popular last time we're going back one more time! That's right, we'll be returning to the Frying Pan, an old light ship on Pier 63 right behind Basketball City and one Pier north of Chelsea Piers, right at the end of 23rd St. (212-989-6363).
Please make a note of the change in time as the sun is setting early now, so for those of you who would like to see it set we're getting there early; however if you can't make it until later no problem, come when you can.
This may be our last opportunity to meet outdoors until next season, so let's go out and enjoy while we can.
Hope to see you all there!
This will be our second meeting for the month, a purely social evvent, so come on down and meet the other members!!
We WILL be there, so look and ask. We have had occasion in the past where people show up and leave because they don't see us, so don't be shy!

This time we will be trying a new location on the water (thanks to Jake for the suggestion) called the Frying Pan, an old light ship on Pier 63 right behind Basketball City and one Pier north of Chelsea Piers.
Normally our meetings are just about socializing and getting to know each other before we go sailing together, but this time there will be things to discuss:
we are having a contest to come up with a new name for the group (thanks to Alan for his suggestion: the "Knot So Ancient Mariner's Club"); we need volunteers to design a flyer which we can post at marinas, yacht clubs, etc.; we would still like to plan one more overnight before the weather turns on us, and can you believe it?, we may just turn ourselves into our own little virtual yacht club! I guess there really are t-shirts in our future!
I know everybody works but please try to be on time so that we can discuss these things. Someof these issueswill determine the direction the group takes in the future, so it would be great to have a large turn out, if you can make it please do.
The Frying Pan assures me we don't need reservations, but just to be safe I will be getting there early to get tables.
For those of you for whom it will be the first time look for the guy with the mariner's cross and the ponytail, or keep your ears open and when you hear people talking about what idiots motor boat people can be, that's us.

I've made a reservation at the Delancey, http://www.thedelancey.com/, for about 20 people on their rooftop. The rooftop has a capacity of 150 so if more people want to come let me know so she doesn't book another group. I believe it is a $7 cover which includes barbequed hot dogs and hamburgers. They have cheap drink specials and you will have access to the music on different floors indoors if it gets too hot.
