Hi All,

Saturday or Sunday ( looks like Saturday now ), October 31 or November 1st I will be delivering my Hunter 40 from City Island to Liberty Harbor Marina in NJ for its winter on the hard. We will attempt to leave @10am and sail or motor via the East River, past the Battery and over to NJ. This should take about 2.5 hours. If the weather cooperates and the crew wishes, we will sail around the Hudson for a while.

Following the delivery we will remove the sails ( Approx 1/2 hour )

I'm brand new to the group, but not to sailing though I may be a bit rusty! I'd LOVE to go and will see if I can rearrange my Sunday plans. My only question is - if we meet and park at City Island, how will be get from Liberty Harbor back to our cars on City Island? Just trying to figure out logistics and timing.

Ah yes, how to get back. Always a good question. The logistics are.......... I live in Edgewater NJ. Here are three suggestions for transportation. FYI I only have room for 2 maybe 3 people if you squeeze.

1) Park at the ferry terminal Port Imperial on River Road, across from the Light Rail. I will pick you up and we will drive, via my car, to City Island. There is a Light Rail stop 200 yards from the marina, so we get on and ride back to your car. I live down the road from the terminal.

2) NYC residents can take a subway to one of these stops ( #1 to 181st ......... #4 to Mt. Eden .......... #6 to Pelham Bay Park ) and I will pick you up. Then you can take the light rail back to one of several ferry or bus stops back to the city. #6 people could cab or bus it if they like.

3) You could leave your car @ City Island and next spring we will have a ride back after delivering the boat to the yacht club.

Option 3 is my least favorite - Option 1 might work. Saturday's weather will definitely be better for me also. I'm driving from northern Westchester - about 1.3 hr NE of Port Imperial via the GW Bridge. Perhaps it makes sense to see if there will be others who are going who I can coordinate transportation with? I don't know that part of NJ well and don't want to risk a delay.
