The Westchester/City Island Sailing Group is open to all with an interest in sailing. Our membership ranges from those that have never been on a sailboat to seasoned racers and cruisers. Meetings are a mixture of seminars, socials, and a great way for captains and crew to meet. We are easily accessible from the City and Westchester and meet at the City Island Yacht Club, a private club that the Board of Directors have graciously allowed me to open up to non-members once a month to do this and further the sport. Topics for the monthly meetings will be decided on the needs of the Meetup membership . With almost 100 experienced captains in the CIYC membership, talks will range from the basics of how to sail, racing tactics, sail trim, cruising the Long Island Sound, tides and currents, diesel maintenance and chartering in the Bahamas, to name just a few. Everyone that wanted to go sailing had a great opportunity as we had more than enough boats at the July meeting. Car pools from the City can be arranged through the message board. Pickups have also been made from the Pelham Bay Station.
