Ahoy all Boat owners and potential crew! Announcing the Gotham City Sailing Association TEAM LAUNCH COMPETITION. If you need help getting your boat ready for the season and if you joined this group to go sailing, this is the Meetup to attend. GCSA is hosting a Launch party for all boat owners and potential crew!

On May 13th, we will create Launch teams of 2+members (plus the boat owner). Each team leader (boat owner) will pick the date of the event, coordinate transport and provide the boat.

Boat owners- For the Meetup, prepare a signup form for dates (and possible rain dates) that you plan on doing work on your boat to get it ready to “splash”. Since this should be a work-party, plan on providing tunes, beverages and the atmosphere to make this fun! Have ready directions and possible tasks that are not dependent on experience. All boat owners who attend and participate in this event will get a GCSA T-shirt for $5.

Potential Crew- Bring your enthusiasm to this Meetup! There is proven evidence that members who offer to clean and provide a little elbow grease to a boat owner’s first love (his or her boat) WILL SAIL THIS SUMMER (and likely for as long as the boat owner lives). I can personally attest to this- I offered John, your assistant organizer, a summer day and some beer to get his boat ready to splash and ended up with a bonified *marriage proposal (which I accepted, thank you!) Suggested items to bring to your on-site Launch party are – beverages of BBQ treats of choice, Sunblock, party tunes, workout gloves and comfortable boat attire that can be destroyed.

Post event, participating GCSA members will anonymously vote for the best boat owner, crew member and cleanest boat to win prizes at our next Meetup in June.
